International Walk to School Day

Once again this fall we took part in the International Walk to School Day, where we work with participating New Bedford schools to highlight the physical and cognitive benefits children receive when they walk or bike to school each day. I-Walk Day happens twice a year, but on the 363 other days, we work closely with Safe Routes to School and each school to implement walking and biking plans that work for that unique school – for the students, parents, and teachers.

When children walk and/or bike to school each day, schools see a decrease in tardiness and absences, and children come to school more ready to learn, while also establishing healthy habits.
